Steve Winwood and the Memphis Horns -- Roll With It
Skip reminded me this morning of this classic with the Memphis Horns at their finest and how it is one of the mighty DeucE's favorites of all time, mine too for that matter. Another reminder to keep moving (forward or backward, up or down, etc.) for we simply must keep rolling if the road is to rise up...

Sting and the Memphis Horns -- All Four Seasons
Skip just requested some "feel-good" music, can't go wrong with the Memphis Horns he reminded me, they crossed the pond in 1995 to give Sting a hand on his "Mercury Falling" album, read somewhere that Sting wrote this one for his daughter, feelin' better already so more Wayne Jackson and Andrew Love to come...

Deep Purple -- The Missing Song Of Machine Head, Released 1972
This cut so the story goes was pulled at the last minute by one band member (who will remain nameless here) much to the chagrin of the rest who were indeed the best - Ian Gillan (vocals), Roger Glover (bass), Ian Paice (drums) and Jon Lord (keyboards). And, go figure, the guitar work is spot on...

Art Neville and The Funky Meters
Poppa Funk's recent passing hit hard, made for a lousy few days, true dat. Back now and knew this one was the perfect example of New Orleans' funk to post (again). Check out each band member's performance, including Art's tribute to the small child at the end, and there should be no doubt. "Heart" in a word, start to finish... RIP the one and only Mr. Art Neville.

Blues Breakers -- John Mayall With Eric Clapton
Two for the L'Man from 1966, picked up a vinyl copy while in NOLA last week for all of $3.00. The first tune here, Robert Johnson's Ramblin' On My Mind, is noteworthy as it reps Clapton's first vocal recording of his musical career, the second tune here, an old school instrumental first recorded in 1960 (by Freddie King), leaves little doubt what's on the horizon...

Man, could he play... I somehow missed (or perhaps forgot) his passing in 2013. Quite the legend! RIP, Mr. Lee.
