Harry Chapin - Taxi

Who was it that said life is full of twists and turns? Oh well, guess I just did.

The New Mastersounds

Jb's halftime find:

The Hollies - Long Cool Woman in a Black Dress

Jb thinks that The Hollies were second only to the Beatles across the pond where they had over 20 straight Top 20 hits back in the day (Lex just knows no one could have topped the Beatles). Graham Nash was long gone by 1971 when lead vocalist Allan Clarke decided it was his turn to split. Had to rethink his decision quick, fast and in a hurry though when this sweet ditty scored big time in the States rather than the UK. Go figure...

Eric Johnson - When DeucE Speaks...

Best listen - Jb does. One from his vault, one that takes me back to my college days. My younger brother turned me on to Eric Johnson and his amazing licks. We used to listen to Eric and Stevie Ray on the way to and from the University of New Orleans. Not much care in the world for us back then. Thanks to DeucE for the recommendation and given recent world events, a much needed walk down memory lane. Enjoy.

Robert Cray at the Crossroads Festival

Man, what a stage! Thank you Mr. Cray and Welcome Mr. Preston.

Dance Mick Dance

Check out the moves of one Sir Michael Philip Jagger from back in the day when the boyz were a cover band.

Lyle Lovett - Skinny Legs

Got 'em, just need the blue Toyota and the girl...

Doyle Bramhall - Old School Texas Style

A little off the beaten path I know but here's the way that it should be done...

Stevie Ray - With A Message

The challenge is the journey...

Tightrope - Bramhall/Vaughan

Caught up in a whirlwind can't catch my breath,
knee deep in hot water broke out in a cold sweat
Can't catch a turtle in this rat race,
feels like I'm losin' time at a breakneck pace

Afraid of my own shadow in the face of grace,
heart full of darkness spotlight on my face
There was love all around me but I was lookin' for revenge,
thank God it never found me would have been the end

I was walkin' the tightrope steppin' on my friends
Walkin' the tightrope it was a shame and a sin
Walkin' the tightrope between wrong and right
Walkin' the tightrope both day and night

Lookin' back in front of me in the mirror's a grin,
through eyes of love I see I'm really lookin' at a friend
We've all had our problems that's the way life is,
my heart goes out to others who are there to make amends
We've been walkin' the tightrope tryin' to make it right
Walkin' the tightrope every day and every night
Walkin' the tightrope bring it all around
Walkin' the tightrope from the lost to found

Walkin' the tightrope stretched around the world
Walkin' the tightrope save the boys and girls
Walkin' the tightrope let's make it right
Walkin' the tightrope do it do it tonight
Walkin' the tightrope

Swing - Lisa Stansfield & Company

Remember It Ain't What You Do... Original video pulled, Replaced by their performance of Mack the Knife.

It's Just A Thought - CCR

This one came to mind after spending some time at villageundertaker.wordpress.com where a good writer shares his insight - good stuff that hits home. Thanks E for the hook-up.

"Pendulum" was the last studio release for the four original members of CCR. Some great songs on the album, including "Have You Ever Seen The Rain" but I guess by then the writing was on the wall...

Julian Dawson - Countdown Continues

More reflection, sort of...

George Winston - Just In Time

Saw the real "GW" at the historic Saenger Theater in New Orleans long before Katrina all but destroyed it. He shared his admiration for Professor Longhair which was a nice touch. One magical performance thanks to musician and venue...

Eric Clapton - Let It Grow

Used to practice this one on the drums right here in the den of this little house. On one hand, it seems like a long time ago and on the other, it seems like just yesterday. To a much simpler time...

The Beatles - Countdown Continues

Needed a reminder for reflection as the year winds down. Per John Lennon, "Life is what happens to you while you're busy making other plans." All too true. I checked my pick with our resident expert on the Beatles and this one has Lex's approval.

Paul Rodgers, Seagull - Countdown to the New Year

Saw Mr. Rodgers & Company at the Municipal Auditorium in New Orleans back in the '70s. Very tight performance with an amazing drum solo by one Simon Kirke but this is the number that I remember from the concert.
